A tribute to my darling Tascha’s “Wax Dragon”: The Wax-Dragon by

Over at Pixelbrush we had a little challenge to reinterpret each other’s artwork, and I couldn’t help but chose Tascha’s dragon. It’s one of my favorite digital paintings, so I was thrilled to have the chance to do something based off of it.

Done pretty quickly over a two week period when I had a lot of other work going on… so it’s not as polished as it could have been, but it felt good to do something for myself again! I really overloaded myself on work these past two months and it is starting to weigh down on me.

Tascha’s original is perfect as far as I am concerned, but the title always struck me as strange. When I think of wax, I think of fire melting the wax… that was my main inspiration.

Successful colors and good composition. The hand a little confuses. Not everywhere it is enough details, and somewhere they are absolutely not necessary.

I love how you made the was melt! It is wonderfully painted. The rest is pretty cool too, but notice that the woman's navel should be placed more to the middle of the stomach. If you pull a line down from between the breasts, you will see this.

if she is with child, then the placement of the navel would seem more inplace.ya think? very nice work, i like it.

No, I don't really think so... Because now it looks like the stomach is bent to the side... That's a bit odd. As far as I know, the stomach still points forward when with child, right? It doesn't twist to the side.
